Similar to Enigma or Deep Forest, J'matra is a partnership between Tom Richardson and Joshua Mobley, who play a variety of electronic instruments for their sophisticated, yet evocative, musical excursions. "J'matra is sound, imagination, and illusion," explains Richardson. "Meditative rhythms syncopate with music of the mind to create a relaxed 'chill' environment. From analog synths to digital sampling to live chamber instruments, J'matra is the ambient experience."
Richardson began singing at age of four, and played guitar and drums for church and school jazz bands his entire adolescence. He received a degree in business/entertainment at UCLA, and worked as a studio musician and engineer, shifting his focus to electronic instrumentation: keyboards, samplers, computers. Richardson is also co-author of 7 Days to Greater Vitality, a six-hour self-help audio set and workbook.
