Groove Collective percussionist Gordon "nappy G" Clay and Daniel "chief Abbot D" Wyatt were playing Haitian rhythms around New York City's Soho district, picking up bassist Jonathan Maron and drummer Genji Siriasi (Groove Collective members) as well as singer/songwriter Nicole Willis. Forming the funky acid-jazz combo Repercussions, the group supported Arrested Development, George Clinton and Brand New Heavies at New York's Groove Academy. Repercussions were also the first release on Britain's influential Mo' Wax Records. Earth And Heaven (1995), their debut album, was recorded with guests Joe Sample, Don Grolnick and Earth, Wind & Fire's trumpeter, Jerry Hey. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
