Kurtz Receives Medal
A former Salmon Arm Fisheries officer was among several being honoured last night with an Exemplary Service Medal.
Now a Langley resident, Byril Kurtz, was among 20 Fisheries Conservation and Protection officers receiving the medals from the BC Lieutenant Governor at a ceremony in Whistler.
Kurtz started his career in Prince Rupert, went to Kitimat and Bella Bella before moving to Salmon Arm.
With his reputation as an expert in Habitat related Investigation techniques and requirements he was asked to go on a two-year assignment in Ontario when the Central and Arctic Region was established.
He was asked to help assist in establishing capacity within the officers in the region who's primary focus was Habitat related enforcement.
The Medal is for officers who have served in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency.
