A Quebec-based firm has applied to the BC Government to gauge the winds at five Crown land locations in the southeast corner of the province. Spokesman Matt Good says a province-wide search to establish wind power generating stations has been narrowed down to that area, including the Cartwright and Dunbar Lakes area in the Columbia Valley west of Brisco.
He says if the 200 million dollar project went ahead it would create 'significant' local investment during construction and would also realize royalties to the Province and tax revenue for the Regional District of East Kootenay.
