A producer and keyboard player, Salaam Remi is known for his reggae-tinged approach to the studio. The son of studio musician Van Gibbs, Salaam first appeared on record as the keyboardist for Kurtis Blow's 1986 release Kingdom Blow. In the late '80s Salaam began mixing records and, in 1992, produced the reggae group Zhigge. Salaam has been associated with several successful releases, including Ini Kamoze's "Here Comes the Hotstepper," The Fugees' multi-platinum Score, and Toni Braxton's "You're Making Me High." ~ Steve Kurutz, All Music Guide
