The late '60s threw up numerous obscure and bizarre records in which it was difficult to tell whether the musicians were trying to exploit psychedelia or emulate it. This album -- here credited to L'experience 9, although it's identical to the somewhat more widely known album Attention that's billed to Les Maledictus Sound -- is one of those. While certainly eclectic, it's as contrived as it is exotic. Easy listening-friendly orchestral pop strings dally with Chipmunks-like voices, screaming psychedelic guitar, actual screams, go-go horns, classical-like guitar, churchy organ, good-time vaudeville, and assorted odd drop-ins of weird sounds. Read More
